
Marjorie Leggitt is a nationally recognized professional scientific illustrator and Board member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators based in Washington DC. She started her career at Chicago¹s Field Museum of Natural History dissecting and illustrating Australian land snails.
Freelancing fulltime since 1985, her clients include the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Missouri Botanical Gardens, US Fish and Wildlife, Miami Science Museum, and many academic and trade book publishers. Much of Marjorie¹s art is created for educational exhibits and books, requiring close interaction with scientists, curators and interpretive experts. A natural at teaching, Marjorie teaches botanical illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens¹ School of Botanical Art and Illustration and has taught independent plein air sketching classes for 20 years. Today she offers multi-day workshops throughout the United States and Europe. She lives in Boulder, Colorado with her husband, cat, and whatever children venture through town.
