Susan J. Tweit began her career as a plant ecologist, then turned to writing because she loved the stories behind the data more than collecting it. Her writing has won regional and national awards; her most recent book, Walking Nature Home: A Life’s Journey, comes out in March. Her work appears in publications ranging from Audubon and Fine Gardening to the Los Angeles Times, and airs periodically on the Martha Stewart Living Radio Network. She has gardened “wild” since a childhood spent rescuing wildflowers from development sites. Susan lives with her husband, sculptor Richard Cabe, on a “re-greened” former industrial site in Salida, Colorado.
Jim Steinberg has been a professional photographer and resident of Steamboat Springs for over thirty years. His passion for nature’s beauty has led him to remote corners of Colorado and around the world. Steinberg’s work has appeared in numerous magazines, including National Geographic, Life, Backpacker, Earth, Nature Conservancy, Scientific American, Nature’s Best, Oxford Scientific, Discover, National Parks, U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, and Sierra Club.
