“I like plants . . . all of them. They clean the air, feed our families, bring us joy, and soften the edges of a hard world.” Susan Rubin is drawn to the recurring patterns and wild anomalies that occur within the botanical world. She is particularly interested in the idea that botanical art and illustration is a dynamic and evolving art genre. Her focus is on retaining traditional precision while pursuing a contemporary view of plants.An instructor in botanical art and illustration since 1998, shetries to convey an appreciation for both the scientific and artistic aspects of the genre.Susans work appears at SPARK Gallery Denver, in numerous other gallery exhibits and publications, and is held in many private collections.

Susan Rubin has taught art and worked as a product, interior, and set designer for her own firms as well as the Discovery Channel and HGTV. She has illustrated numerous books, such as gardening books, field guides, college catalogues, seed packets, and even coloring books. She exhibits locally and nationally and her art is found in many private collections. Susan teaches Colored Pencil and Graphite Pencil.
