Tina’s interest in bird/plant associations started when she worked part time for Denver Museum of Nature and Science studying what bird species fed on what plant species in Colorado from plains to upper montane. Some of this work was published in the museum’s book on urban ecology. She has an extensive background in botany, both undergraduate and graduate. She has taught “Colorado Bird Identification” for the museum and for the Audubon Society for at least 15 years. Her garden is featured as a wildlife habitat in two books, “Hummingbird Gardens” by Nancy Newfield and
“Colorado’s Great Gardens” by Rob Proctor and Georgia Garnsey. Tina contributed to the botany on the disc, “Identification of North American Hummingbirds” by John Dunn and John Vanderpole, which continues to be sold throughout the United States. She has been active with the Colorado Native Plant Society and is a past vice president for the state organization. The last 2 years Tina has been mentoring students and teaching for the Master Birders program through the Audubon Society of Greater Denver.
