Canyons and Foothills in Spring Glory, with Panayoti Kelaidis

April 20, 8:00 AM-11:00 AM
Denver Botanic Gardens

$690.00 (Member Price) / $740.00 (Non-Member Price)

The foothills of the Manti LaSal Mountains overlook the most glorious canyon country on Earth. Join us to stay at a rustic lodge at the height of early spring bloom, as we venture into the canyon country for a series of hikes and plant study where we expect this snowy winter to produce lavish bloom. The first penstemons should be out, as well as dozens of kinds of loco weed, oval leaf buckwheat and creeping phlox galore, not to mention the majestic purple or white flowered barrel cactus of the Canyonlands (Sclerocactus parviflorus). The Colorado Plateau contains the greatest concentration of rare and unusual plants per acre anywhere in the vast Rocky Mountain and Intermountain region, so plant biodiversity will be the name of the game.
