You want to be woodswise… You want to be able to forage and survive in the wilderness. You promised yourself you would take a class someday. Well, today is someday.
In keeping with this year’s urban nature theme, join Cattail Bob on a trip to his 7 acres west of Loveland where you will see, touch, smell and taste over 60 useful wild plants. Used by Native Americans for thousands of years, many of these plants can be found growing in your own backyard. In addition to native plants, Cattail Bob has brought in a few wild gems from elsewhere including epazote, yampa, silver buffaloberry, saltbrush, osha, wild grape, jewelweed and black mustard. Learn to make wild cordage, try some wild tea, smoke some kinnikinnik, taste a wild berry or a sorrel leaf and more. A true taste of Colorado! Cattail’s book, “Best-Tasting Wild Plants of Colorado and the Rockies” will be offered for sale. Cattail has been teaching this class since 1975.
You will meet in Drake, CO, one hour from Denver. A map will be sent with your registration confirmation. Bring walking shoes, raingear, long pants and a lunch.
