Get your hands and feet dirty in this first-ever hands-on natural building workshop. Begin with an introduction to cob, an adobe-like mixture of local materials that can be used to create benches, ovens, walls, and even small sheds or cottages. You will be constructing an original play structure for the new children’s discovery area at Chatfield. Gather sand, clay and other natural materials on site, plan your design, and work together to assemble the structure. Be prepared to get dirty – you will be mixing the material with your feet! This is a true community project – everyone’s participation is critical. Bring a sack lunch, hat, sunglasses and water. Class held at Chatfield. Instructor: Ellen Rosenthal
