In the Victorian era, a return to nature brought a focus on floral motifs to decorative design. French artist Eugene Grasset admired Japanese art, and brought his love of simplified form to poster designs in France and America. In Britain, William Morris lent his architectural training to the decorative textiles and wallpaper patterns that defined the Arts and Crafts movement. Explore the composition and graphic design styles of these
masters of ornamental design. Learn to use graphic design tools and techniques to create your own decorative botanical motif in gouache and mixed media.
